Function of Desktop Memory

The desktop memory plays an important role in functioning of a computer. Random access memory is the other name for desktop memory. When you get the memory installed on the motherboard of your computer, double check the types and amounts of different types of memories that it can accept. To improve the performance of a system, additional desktop memory can be used. It can be further increased and upgraded.

Additional RAM can be inserted into the computers when required. This task can be accomplished in a number of ways. It is very simple for the various portable devices. Some of the computers include additional slots for extra desktop memory on their chassis. The process of adding desktop memory requires you to open the case of the computer and insert the memory into the available slots. The performance of the computers then varies according to the capacity and the size of the memory available. For example, the memory of 1 GB will give a good speed and performance. But it can be improved further by using 2 GB of memory. 4 GB of memory will ensure a great speed and performance for your computer.

The desktop memory can also be compared in terms of bandwidth and relevant clock speeds. A computer is able to use only one types of desktop memory at a given time. The same must be used to compare the desktop memory of different machines.  Sometimes, the computer memory is expandable.
