Best rechargeable battery for laptop

Any rechargeable battery depends on the cycle of its life and performs accordingly.

A sealed nickel metal hydride rechargeable battery and nickel-cadmium rechargeable battery, if used properly in the 100 - 200 cycles can perform better. Majority of the Ni-MH battery technical specifications describes the cycle characteristics on the map. 

Nickel-based batteries have are in the 100 - 200 cycles between its maximum capacity. The liquid lithium-ion batteries the capacity cycle is to use the battery for minimum time. However, the lithium-ion battery is vulnerable to changes in changing temperature. For example, the performance of Sony VGP-BPS2C battery is subjected to environmental changes.  

Some useful tips for maximizing battery life are as follows:

  • Once the laptop starts running on battery switch off all excessive functions and devices that are not being used. This includes dimming of LCD brightness, switching off wireless card and DVD Player. The wireless card on the laptop keeps searching for networks which end up taking half of the battery life.
  • Charging the laptop rechargeable battery at cool temperature is important as hotter temperature affects the battery life. Partial charging can also shorten the battery life. Try charging the battery to the fullest and then using it till it is drained out.
  • Change the battery settings so that the moment the battery is used the settings also change accordingly.
  • Always try to carry around an additional battery in case of a long outstation trip.
  • Finally closely follow the instructions and tips of the manufacturer for efficiently using a laptop rechargeable battery.
